Last Saturday, I went to the second meeting of the YArNS - CR group. They're starting up a new guild for fibre artists in Edmonton, and so far have hit the ground running. There were a lot of great ideas bouncing around the room during the meeting, a few committees have formed, and events for the summer and fall have been planned. Everyone was enthusiastic and had good opinions to contribute, which I think bodes well for the group in the long run.
Most people at the meeting were knitting, and most were wearing their handknits (I had handknit socks on, not that anyone could tell), and a couple were cross-stitching. I had forgotten how good it feels to sit around talking and knitting, and not feeling weird because I'm the only one knitting. I used to be part of a Stitch 'n' Bitch group, when I first moved to Edmonton, but I stopped going after a while. It's great to get back into group knitting, and I got most of the hand of a mitten done during the meeting.
So far, we're meeting once a month at St. David's Church in Edmonton. Join the Ravelry group to stay up to date.
